Lift & Escalator Hygiene Practices during Coronavirus Pandemic

  • On 19th March 2020

As all of our lift and escalator customers are aware, the Coronavirus outbreak has hit most parts of the world including the UK and become an urgent health crisis. During this turbulent period, the Titan Elevators team would like to strongly advise our customers and their customers to take extra care when travelling in a lift or on an escalator.

Irrespective of the environment you are in, whether it is an office, shopping centre or a hospital, hygiene is always an issue.

Lift buttons and escalator handrails are prime examples of features where germs can easily be exchanged and because of this, there are essential hygiene measures to follow while we are still in the peak of the pandemic:

  • During lift and escalator travel, maintain a moderate level of distance between yourself and passengers who are coughing or sneezing,
  • It is important to wash your hands as frequently as possible with anti-bacterial soap or hand sanitiser, especially after your lift/escalator journey has ended.
  • If you do have a cough or sneeze whilst in a lift or on an escalator, cover your mouth and nose with your arm or tissue. After using a tissue, dispose of it immediately.
