New Lift Installed in a historically, elegant City of London multi-event venue
Adjacent to the Museum of London, 1 Monkwell Square is the home of Barber-Surgeons’ Hall, a historic multifunctional event venue that officially opened in May 1969.
The four-storey building had previously undergone a major refurbishment programme, to include new Grade A office space on the fourth floor.
Typical of virtually all listed and heritage buildings, preserving the historical value is paramount and ensuring a reliable lift service is provided within a building like 1 Monkwell Square contributes to this.
However, since the refurbishment works, which took place over three years ago, the existing passenger lift started displaying signs of unreliability, therefore prompting 1 Monkwell Square’s property managers to look for a new lift solution.
